    • Conference of California Bar Associations

      Optional Contribution

The Legislative Committee of the North County Bar Association asks your help in supporting the Conference of California Bar Associations (CCBA) by making a voluntary contribution on your dues statement. This voluntary contribution was previously available through the State Bar dues statement, but has been removed from the 2020 dues statement and for the foreseeable future.  The voluntary contributions on the State Bar dues provided 80% of CCBA’s funding. In order to replace this essential funding, the CCBA has asked bar local and affinity bar associations from all over the State of California to continue its funding support by placing a voluntary contribution option on the local bar association’s dues statement.  The NCBA has agreed to provide this option to its members.

    • WHAT IS THE CCBA?

    • The CCBA serves justice in California by bringing together attorney volunteers from all around the State to seek, debate, and promote creative, non-partisan solutions to law-related issues for the benefit of Californians.  CCBA goals include improving the laws and administration of justice, advancing the science of jurisprudence, and promoting the public understanding of the justice system.

The NCBA has been an active participant in the CCBA for many years and has brought state-wide recognition to our Bar.  The NCBA seeks your input each year by asking for your ideas for changes to statutes.  The Legislative Committee of the NCBA then analyzes, packages and presents those ideas to the CCBA

    • CCBA’S SUCCESS

    • Between 2009 and 2017, the CCBA has:

    • Considered 909 Resolutions.

    • Approved 568 of those Resolutions.

    • Placed 205 of those Resolutions in bills (stand-alone or omnibus), or supported bills which completely on point with the intent of the resolution.

    • Saw 141 of those resolutions enacted into law. That's 25% of approved resolutions, and nearly 69% of the resolutions placed in bills.

    • Average of over 22 resolutions placed in bills each year (often several in omnibus measures), with 15.6 enacted.

    • NCBA’S PARTICIPATION AND SUCCESS IN THE CCBA

    • Some of our accomplishments include:

    • Twelve Resolutions passed in the Conference in 2019!

    • 21 proposals by the NCBA passed into law by the Legislature since 2008.

    • Our own Jeff Lacy elected Chair of the CCBA for 2019-2020.

    • North County lawyers have served on the Board for the CCBA nearly every year.

    • More information about the CCBA can be found at calconference.org.
