Committees

Membership Committee

This committee focuses on the development and benefits of the Association’s membership, Law School Outreach, Public relations and marketing of the Association as well as the Social Media exposure. Chaired by Angela Medrano.

Pro Bono and Community Outreach Committee

This committee is dedicated to fostering community engagement and expanding access to legal services through outreach and pro bono initiatives. It collaborates with the Vista Court, Vista Law Library, and Vista Public Library to organize educational events such as Law Day. The committee also coordinates Youth in Court and On My Honor programs, where volunteer attorneys guide students through mock trials and deliver legal presentations at the San Diego Superior Court in Vista. In addition, it provides member attorneys with opportunities to offer pro bono legal assistance, including participation in Law Day, where free consultations are provided to the public. Throughout the year, the committee serves as a liaison to local schools and a central hub for connecting attorneys with nonprofit organizations seeking legal volunteers for events that support underserved members of the community.  This committee is currently chaired Irene Stewart.

Social Committee

This committee focuses on planning and coordinating the Association’s social activities such as the annual beach party, golf tournament, and Holiday gala. The social committee also plans networking mixers throughout the year and promotes interest in all social events. This committee is currently co-chaired by Katharine Tremblay.

Dinner Meeting Committee

This committee focuses on planning all the Association’s monthly dinner meetings including the venue, the menu, and the program. The chair of this committee works closely with Executive Director, Camden Retzlaff, on ensuring MCLE credit is earned by attendees when offered. This committee also gathers nominations for all the Association’s awards and presents them to the Board of Directors. This committee is currently chaired by Katharine Tremblay.

MCLE Committee

This committee coordinates and promotes the Association’s annual/semi-annual Seminars. This committee also works closely with the Association’s Section Chairs to ensure quality continuing legal education programs and works closely with Executive Director, Camden Retzlaff, to maintain records to satisfy all requirements set forth by the State Bar of California in order to remain an “Approved Provider” of MCLE programs. The MCLE fees and fees from the semi-annual seminars are a substantial component of the Association’s budget. This committee is currently chaired by Erica Bloom.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Purpose: The promote the diversity, equity and inclusion across the legal profession. The committee works together to ensure equal accessibility to leadership, educational and volunteer opportunities. This committee is currently chaired by Angela Medrano

Courts

Serve as a liaison between the bar members and the judiciary. Should make contact early in the year with the Presiding/Supervising Judges to determine what policies and procedures they intend to implement in that year. To maintain ongoing communication, and to provide information, and assistance to the bench, in order to facilitate the best possible flow of cases through the courts.

Donor Advisor Fund

The Donor Advisory Committee for the North County Bar Fund is chaired by a member of the Board of Directors. That Chair is responsible for directing The San Diego Foundation in connection with donations in the community, and also assists in fundraising efforts for the Fund. The Chair acts as a liaison with the remainder of the Committee members drawn from other legal organizations.

Long Term Planning

To maintain ongoing supervision of the association's long-term financial and practical well-being and goals.

Legislative

To represent the association at the annual Conference of Delegates, and to review and make recommendations related to proposed legislation which affects the profession.

Magazine

To maintain a quality publication, that provides members with information, education, professional development, humor, recognition and announcements.

Mentoring Program

For new lawyers, the Mentoring program puts them in contact with experienced lawyers who are ready to share their own experiences and answer questions.
